Enjoy carefree peace and quiet in the north of the Algarve

We started our bed & breakfast "Casa Monchique" over 10 years ago. More than 5 years ago we moved from the valley of the 'Perna de Negra' to an even more beautiful location with lots of peace and quiet and a fantastic view over the surrounding mountains of the Serra de Monchique in the Algarve.

Location

Our authentic farmhouse is located about 10 km north of the mountain village of Monchique, in the Serra de Monchique mountain range in the north of the Algarve, near the border with the province of Alentejo.

It is an oasis of peace, with evergreen nature, many species of birds and chirping crickets. A wonderful secluded place for walking, exploring southern Portugal or just relaxing. From the pool we have a fantastic view over the mountains of the Algarve.

The house is centrally located for trips to the beautiful rugged west coast (40 km) and the beautiful and somewhat busier south coast (35 km). To the north is the Santa Clara reservoir and to the east towns such as Silves. In the whole area you can enjoy walking and there are various marked hiking trails, such as the 'Via Algarviana' and the 'Rota Vicentina'.

The mountain village of Monchique with its Moorish influences has nice restaurants & bars, a supermarket and a large indoor and outdoor pool in the center.
The road to our farmhouse is quite mountainous, especially from the village of Monchiquue. Take your time and make sure you arrive in daylight on the first day. If necessary, we can pick you up at a nearby bar.

Accommodation

The quinta has a magnificent view and is surrounded by forests with pine trees, eucalyptus and medronho bushes. There are no neighbors in the vicinity and the air is very pure and clean. At night you can see the stars very well, because there is no light pollution.

In the renovated house, only one room with an en-suite room is available for a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 guests.

The room has two single beds and a private bathroom with shower, toilet and sink. This room has an en-suite room with two single beds.
The room opens onto a small reading room, which leads to the open plan kitchen diner.

We can accommodate a total of 4 guests in the available rooms, and the site is also suitable for 1 or 2 tents, so that groups or families of up to 10 people are welcome. In that case, you must provide your own breakfast.

Guests can use the outdoor kitchen with terrace. You can have breakfast and dinner on the terrace and the spacious living room has a lounge area and there is a cozy bar where you can sit to read or have a drink. The location has its own water and electricity system (solar) and internet connection with wifi.

 Around the house are several terraces with shade from the fig tree and grape pergola. The (small) round swimming pool has a fantastic view over the Algarve.

Opening times

Our farmhouse is expected to be open again from July 10, 2023, due to maintenance.

Prices

Our rates include a cleaning fee and a small breakfast.

Room : 74.50 euros / day, minimum 3 days, for maximum 2 people. Extra 24.50 per person/day for additional guests in the connecting room-en-suite. (room 2)

Cleaning: We do not charge a cleaning fee. (Bed linen is changed weekly).

Breakfast: all prices include a small breakfast.

Transport from/to Monchique: 22.50 euros per trip. We always advise to rent a car from the airport.

Transport to Faro Airport: on request.

Children: Our location is less suitable for children because of the rough terrain, lack of playgrounds and the relatively greater distance from the city.
